Scuba Set

A scuba set at its most basic level consists of some sort of canister filled with breathing air and a way to breathe it, usually a regulator. The idea of breathing underwater has been fantasized about forever, and in the last sixty years has become a reality to anyone who wants to try. There are a few additions to the basic set that make underwater exploration and enjoyment possible.

Fins, mask and wetsuit are very important parts of a scuba set. Without them mobility, comfort and the ability to see would be greatly diminished. It would be possible to dive without them, but unless the diver has severe myopia they would not be able to see anything besides a haze of colors with almost no depth perception at all. Not a safe way to dive.

A scuba set provides many of the comforts of living on land, most notably the ability to breathe, move and see. While fins do not allow the same ability to move underwater as feet do on land, it is a much more interesting experience than walking or running, almost like a really slow flight through a widely strange world. Diving really opens people up to the diversity and sheer multitude of life, especially under the surface.
