Scuba Regulator

The scuba regulator connects to the dive cylinder via a hose and depressurizes the air coming out of the tank to a suitable pressure for breathing. The tank is highly pressurized so it cannot be directly connected to diver’s mouth without deadly results. The regulator also allows carbon dioxide to escape into the water.

A scuba regulator also has an indicator that displays the pressure of the tank which can be used to determine the amount of time the diver has available. Many dive computers are connected with the regulator and can keep track of many variables and even warn the diver if they are down too deep or too long. Unfortunately the complexity of many dive computers makes them less reliable and if broken during use the diver will have no idea what their reserves are, a very dangerous position.

Scuba regulators can be two hosed like the original Aqualung which has separate hoses for each tank or one hosed systems that can be connected to both tanks simultaneously. There are many variations to these set ups including custom ones that are preferred by individual divers. The regulator should always be checked for cracks and pieces that may break. All connections should be sealed as well.
